Shout out to my best friend, Delilah P. Strickland! She just completed Law School! I will be getting my friend back in just a few weeks once she takes the bar exam!

Her only request was that I be there to do her makeup and lashes. Go figure :-)

I am so excited to share with you, the readers of B Stands for Beauty my interview on Sherry Blossom Beauty's Blog. I met Sherry on Facebook (talk about the power of social media)! She searched for Makeup Artists and my profile appeared. She asked me a few questions about getting started as a makeup artist. I get messages similar to Sherry's a lot and sometimes I feel that I don't have much to say or I wonder why anyone would want my advice. From the relationship I have with Sherry it is evident that my experiences and advice can help someone else. Even if it takes me a few days to get back to someone, I always respond!

Sherry's energy is contagious! She has jumped into the world of freelance makeup artistry full force and I have learned and/or gained just as much from her as she probably has from me.

Click the link and visit Sherry's blog to see my interview! Thank you Sherry!

The most rewarding aspect of being a makeup artist is collaborating with other artists. Whether they are designers, creative directors, fashions stylists, hair stylists it is amazing to contribute to a finished product and see it on the runway. Since moving to New York, I have been fortunate enough to work with several makeup artists on Fashion Week teams.

This past season I had the chance to work on the Makeup Team for the Toni Francesc Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. Our team was lead by Jackie Mgido and the makeup was sponsored by Mehron Cosmetics. Designers definitely look to Mehron Cosmetics for bold, fashionable looks that will translate into everyday fashion and beauty trends.

This season, Toni Francesc collection was inspired by the Garuda Bird and he wanted the eye makeup to mimic a wing like effect. He also wanted the lips to stand out referencing a 'blood red' shade.

I demonstrated this look at The Makeup Show in LA to both aspiring and seasoned makeup artists. Listed below are the Mehron products used to create the Toni Francesc look. During the seminar, I strongly emphasized how Mehron Cosmetics are pioneers in the makeup industry and have been manufacturing cosmetics since 1927. Mehron products are very versatile. I have used them backstage in theater and their products can be used for beauty and fashion work as well.
